The Cunning of Gender Violence in Israel’s War

“We recognize the cruel irony that the very language and discourse of feminism is being used to justify our own elimination as a people by the very powers decrying gendered violence. We must, then, ask the question: What is Zionism performing when it simultaneously rapes and violates our women, mass murders our children and attempts to starve us to death while disciplining us for naming this as genocidal ?”

Orientalism, Imperialism and the Western Coverage of Palestine

“ Why do the majority of Western mainstream media outlets continue to adopt and defend the Israeli narrative? Why is there a tendency towards dehumanising Palestinians and placing disproportionate blame upon them for current events? What interests do Western mainstream media organisations have in maintaining this type of coverage?”

Every Document of Civilisation is Also a Document of Barbarism

They are Palestinians, not Ukrainians. Even right-wing, pro-Israel, conservative, oligarchic … paper cannot ignore what the UN is saying. “The UN said on Tuesday that more than 12,300 children died between October and February in the Gaza Strip, mostly in Israeli airstrikes, citing its own data and reports from Gaza’s Hamas-run health ministry.  At the same time, the UN’s own calculations show that 12,193 children were killed in fighting in all armed conflicts globally between 2019 and 2022. At least 31,272 people have been killed in Gaza since October last year , according to the Gaza health ministry. Although it is run by Hamas, the ministry’s casualty figures for previous conflicts have been found to be accurate.” And after the killing of white Westerners, it is more if a reason to publish what cannot be ignored. Israel, is now being argued, has to change its way of conducting the war. Israel though has its own logic: a demographic one that complements the territorial expansive obj

Israel is not ISIS

So far, the major imperialist states supporting Israel in its genocidal war have not acted the way they did against ISIS when the latter killed ‘Westerners’. A friend, an ally, a state that is a European colonial creation, one that shares some similarities with the history of the Western colonial, racist and white supremacist history, and a very important geopolitical regime for imperialism in the region is still allowed to kill ‘Westerners’/Western nationals’ . ‘The price is worth it’. After a period of blackouts, the BBC is publishing what cannot be ignored. The criminals are heartbroken upon hearing of the death of three aid workers.

UN Rights Expert Accuses Israel of Acts of Genocide

The BBC has began to filter less because the corporation cannot ignore what international organisation report. Albanese had been accused of ‘antisemitism’ in 2014. “Ms Albanese's choice of a title for it: 'Anatomy of a Genocide' was not exactly diplomatic. Many member states, especially those traditionally supportive of Israel, will be uncomfortable.  But UN special rapporteurs, while tasked by the UN to examine and advise on specific situations, are independent of it.  Genocide is a specific legal term, and Ms Albanese's report suggests some of the legal criteria have been fulfilled.  She cites what she says appears to be Israel's intention to destroy Palestinians as a group ‘in whole or in part’, a key clause in the Convention against Genocide. She mentions in particular three elements which point to possible genocide:  Killing members of the group Causing serious bodily or mental harm to members of the group Deliberately inflicting on the group conditions of lif

Middle East: ‘Saudis and Emiratis Now Call the Shots’

"Beyond the grandiose tirades and pontificating final statements, each ‘urgent’ meeting ratifies only the league’s inaction. It is too tempting to picture this assembly (excellencies, corpulencies, marshal-presidents, rebels-turned-honourables, men elected in dubious landslides or by the slimmest of margins) at its large round table, conversing with furrowed brows before condemning Israel’s depiction of the war as ‘self-defence’ and demanding, of course, that the country ‘immediately abolish these brutal and inhumane measures’ (11 November 2023). And what else? Threats of a military response? Calls for international sanctions on Israel like those Russia faced after invading Ukraine? A motion supporting South Africa’s case before the International Court of Justice (ICJ) to stop Israel’s ethnic cleansing or even genocide in Gaza? A radical re-examination of the normalisation process and – why not? – severing of diplomatic ties? Cutting Gulf sovereign wealth fund investment in the US

Jewish Settlers Eyeing for Gaza Beachfront

"You can call it ethnic cleansing . I repeat again, the Arabs do not want, normal Arabs do not want to live in Gaza. If you want to call it cleansing, if you want to call it apartheid, you choose your definition. I choose the way to protect the state of Israel." "We must do it. It's part of Israel area," he says. "This is the land that God gave us, and you couldn't go to God and tell him, 'OK you gave me, and I gave to other people.' No. I believe in the end we will go back to Gaza." When God was an estate agent!

The New York Times and 7 October Sexual Assaults

“The question has never been whether individual acts of sexual assault may have occurred  on October 7.  The central issue is whether the New York Times presented solid evidence that Hamas deliberately and systematically deployed sexual violence as a weapon. And to this day, neither the Times nor any other institution has presented compelling proof to back that explosive assertion.” Full email from The Intercept, 15 March 2024: Over the last few weeks, The Intercept has exposed massive holes in the New York Times’s marquee front-page exposé on alleged sexual violence committed  on October 7. Instead of addressing the gaping flaws in the story and issuing a correction, the Times has launched an internal “witch hunt” targeting employees based on their national origin, ethnicity, and race to track down anyone who may have talked to The Intercept about the story, according to the union that represents the Times newsroom employees. The Intercept is continuing to investigate and expose false

US: AIPAC: Israel

The Intercept reported on how the American Israel Public Affairs Committee delivered a series of donations worth $95,000 to Republican House Speaker Mike Johnson in the days after he passed $14 billion in military aid for Israel in November. Meanwhile, AIPAC plans to spend upward of $100 million to oust progressive Democratic members of Congress who have dared challenge Israel’s brutal bombardment of Gaza. It’s all part of a yearslong effort to purge any Democrat who dares question Israeli policy from Congress, while elevating the most radical right-wing pro-Israel Republicans. And with 30,000 Palestinians dead and Israel readying a brutal ground assault in Rafah, it’s more important than ever for The Intercept to keep digging to expose AIPAC’s lobbying activity and how the organization leverages its deep pockets to make sure the U.S. continues funding Israel’s brutal war in Gaza. There’s no way to fully understand why the U.S. keeps pouring guns and money into Israel’s barbaric war on

Benni Morris at the London School of Economics

LSE aims at educating students From 2004 to the present Morris “claims objectivity , even if a careful reading of almost all of Morris’ writings reveals a very simplistic and one-dimensional view on the Jewish-Arab conflict.  Despite all his “discoveries” about moral wrongs perpetrated by the Israelis, on the bottom line, he always tended to adopt the official Israeli interpretation of the events . Morris devoted a very salient and extensive discussion to the centrality of idea of “transfer” (i.e., ethnic cleansing) in Zionist thought, but concluded that the Palestinians had not been expelled by the Israelis in compliance with a master plan or following a consequential policy. This was not precise. What the new material shows [– says Morris –] is that there were far more Israeli acts of massacre than I had previously thought. To my surprise, there were also many cases of rape…  They are just the tip of the iceberg." So far it is the “old good” and expected Morris. The restless deb

Despotic and Sclerotic Rulers Against the Palestinians

A very concise and pertinent summary:  The Palestinians are seen as ‘anachronistic problem that affects regional stability and hampers economic prosperity’. I wish there was more elaboration on that. Maqdisi – a historian – here empties history of political economy and regional sociology . Middle East Eye like most outlets generally encourages the fragmentation of social thought. Yet I recommend Maqdisi’s article The Mythology of the Sectarian Middle East (2017). Related The Oslo illusion A powerful group of Palestinian capitalists are profiting off occupation

Settler Colonialism is not an Academic ‘Fad’

It is a real political project Related “Settler colonialism includes interlocking forms of oppression, including racism, white supremacy, heteropatriarchy, and capitalism. This is because settler colonizers are Eurocentric and assume that European values with respect to ethnic, and therefore moral, superiority are inevitable and natural.”  —Alicia Cox,  Settler Colonialism Settler colonialism (wikipedia) Colonising Palestine: The Zionist Left and the Making of the Palestinian Nakba Israel: A Colonial Settler State by Maxime Rodinson with a very good introduction by Peter Buch, 1st ed. 1973 “Rodinson himself calls for a ‘bloodless’ solution and urges the Palestinians to avoid military methods, even though this may mean resigning themselves to their dispossession. But he rises above others who hold this position by insisting that it is up to the wronged party, namely the Arabs, to determine their goals and methods of struggle and that it is certainly impermissible for their oppressors

The Twisted Response from Germany to the Ongoing Massacre of Palestinians

Ever since its founding after World War II the German Federal Republic, to gain acceptance into the family of “western democracies,”  while denouncing Hitler and his most famous henchmen, almost completely restricted condemnation to the horrifying annihilation of the Jewish people while distorting or ignoring the earlier, intense fascist attacks against the Left, especially the Communist left, which so often ended with a noose or a guillotine. Largely forgotten were also Nazi crimes against almost every country in Europe, beginning in Spain in 1936-1939 and climaxing in the killing of an estimated 27 million people of the USSR. In fact, a large number of the perpetrators went unpunished or regained influence and prosperity. Meanwhile, the policy-makers built up connections with any and every Israeli government, including large financial support, often in the form of armaments (like submarines). But since such support served as evidence that Germany had “overcome its past,” total, blind

Bombing Muslims for Peace

As the recently deceased country singer Toby Keith put it: Mess with this country and “We’ll put a boot (think: bomb) in your ass.” You kill three soldiers of ours and we’ll kill scores, if not hundreds, if not thousands of yours (and it doesn’t really matter if they’re soldiers or not), because… well, because we damn well can! America’s leaders, possessing a peerless Air Force, regularly exhibit a visceral willingness to use it to bomb and missile perceived enemies into submission or, if need be, nothingness. And don’t for a second think that they’re going to be stopped by international law, humanitarian concerns, well-meaning protesters, or indeed any force on this planet. America bombs because it can, because it believes in the efficacy of violence, and because it’s run by appeasers. It’s so hard to spread democracy to the barbarians, but we’ll keep trying
