  • David Shayler and Annie Machon, former MI5 officers, join Middle East Panorama show. David Shayler joined MI5 in Oct/1991 and worked there for five years. Mr Shayler wrote The Organisation, a novel based loosely on his experiences working for MI5. Shayler says in July 1994 Mossad told MI5 about imminent Hezbollah bombings of Jewish targets in the UK - but the security service ignored the warnings and didn't tell the police. And in Feb/1996 Libyan dissidents tried to blow up Gadaffi in an MI6-funded plot, but failed - Shayler heard of this conspiracy from a contact in SIS. David's only 'crime' is to have revealed, what he calls, "ineptitude and malpractice within MI5, Britain's security service: shortcomings which have resulted in the waste of millions of pounds worth of taxpayers' money and, worse still, to the deaths of innocent civilians." >> Listen
